About the event

Do you want to learn to ride in a group? Do you see all these group rides posted on Facebook and think, "that'd be fun but I have no idea how to do ride with other people." Or maybe you're worried you'll make some embarrassing mistake and never live it down. I promise I have never done that on a group ride but I'm sure it's a valid concern....

Well worry no more! Come as you are and bring your questions and inexperience, and on this easy ride we'll learn a few common techniques and practice on a few different types of roads just how things in a group should go.

Please meet at the Maverick on Minuteman Drive at 10:30 AM, 14814 Minuteman Dr, Draper, UT 84020. We will have a short tutorial on things like group ride strategy, hand signals, and basic group etiquette, then discuss a couple simple motorcycle maintenance tips that will ensure a successful and safe ride.

The route is pretty simple: starting from Maverick we'll head up Traverse Mountain, then back down into Lehi. We'll take the commuter lane west, under the I-15 overpass, then south towards Redwood Rd and into Saratoga Springs, where we'll stop at the Maverick to gas up as needed, debrief on the trip so far and address any questions or concerns. This will be the last gas until we get back so make sure you are topped off.

Then well continue south on the 68/Redwood Rd/West Lake Rd all the way to Elberta. If you haven't been to the Old Sinclair this route takes us right by it. Next we turn west on 6 and head through Eureka, continuing north on the 36 and through Vernon before heading back east on the 73, into Saratoga Springs, and onto I-15 where we'll head north for a short jaunt back to the starting point at Maverick on Minuteman. There we can debrief once more, gas up, and part ways for the day.

The trip is about 150 miles total and should take about 3 hours of actual riding (not counting time we spend at the gas stations).

Please ensure you wear proper gear and have whatever you need to deal with potential cold or wet weather (end of April in Utah can be unpredictable!) and make sure your bike is in good condition to take a bit of a longer ride.

As always with The Riderz Foundation events, this ride is available to anyone on or off Facebook with a motorcycle and a desire to learn and have fun with other riders. So invite your friends! And if you've done group rides before and just want an easy cruise where you can provide a positive example to your fellow riders, please come and participate!

Feel free to reach out with any questions, and we look forward to seeing you all there!
